The NYU Game Center Open Library is a two branch library with a growing collection of over 3,000 digital and non-digital games. The library supports the Game Center’s undergraduate and graduate coursework, promoting game literacy, critical examination of play, and community engagement through hands-on access to the design history of games.

Cartridge, CD, Non-digital, and Steam Games A full catalog of the library's physical and Steam game collection can be found here. The inventory is also available at the main desk in the library. All games can only be checked-out and played within the Library room. Emulated and DRM-Free Games The library's computers host a collection of 11,000 classic games for consoles ranging from the Magnavox Odyssey to the Sony PSP. Additionally, there are about 300 DRM-free contemporary PC games. The full catalog can found here as well as browsed on the computers.
Books and magazines from the library can be checked out for periods of one week. Up to 3 renewals are allowed. See the librarians at the front desk to check out books.

The Open Library is staffed by current undergraduate students in the Game Design department. Students must have work study via NYU to work in the Library. We typically hire new Librarians in August and January for the Fall and Spring semesters respectively.
